Swire's President Stephen Owens Set to Retire
Swire Properties' Stephen Owens is set to retire from his position as president in January 2017, marking the end of a remarkable 40-year journey with the real estate development company. This significant announcement was made by the company's chief executive, Guy Bradley, who commended Owens for his invaluable leadership and pivotal role in driving Swire Properties' investment and expansion endeavors in the United States.
Owens' retirement coincides with the final stages of construction for Brickell City Centre, a monumental 9.1-acre mixed-use project that is poised to redefine the landscape of downtown Miami. Having been at the helm throughout this transformative project, Owens will continue to lead as president until its completion, ensuring the seamless execution of this landmark development.
Following his retirement, Owens will transition to a new role on the board of Swire Properties, where his wealth of experience and insights will continue to contribute to the company's strategic direction, particularly in its U.S. ventures. Stepping into Owens' shoes as president will be Kieran Bowers, the current general manager of Swire's Cityplaza, an expansive 3.27-million-square-foot mixed-use development located in Hong Kong.
Owens' journey with Swire Properties began in 1976, where he held various senior management positions within the company's U.S. operations. Over the years, he has played instrumental roles such as director of acquisitions and vice president of commercial properties, ultimately ascending to the esteemed position of president of Swire Properties' U.S. operations in 1985. Through his dedication and vision, Owens has left an indelible mark on the company's trajectory and success.
