artist /actress / produce

Born in Monterrey, Mexico in 1982, Diana García spent her early years amusing herself with pen and paper, drawing mostly dinosaurs and fruit at her grandmother´s painting studio. She set aside her artistic explorations in order to pursue her collegiate studies and acting career in Mexico City. However, when she moved to Los Angeles in 2010 she rediscovered her love for the visual arts.

Diana has been developing a unique take on line drawing, inspired by the human figure and fantastical, animal amalgams. Her multi-perspective approach to representing the human body and unconventional combinations of animals all point to an appreciation of form, both external and internal. They articulate a beauty that is dark, whimsical, and elegantly streamlined.

She has been part of a few group shows, and has installed murals in different cities of Mexico and the US. Her magical guardians, the UNIWOLFCHEETAH and JICURI, with it´s slogan BE WHAT YOU DREAM, has garnered attention and has been requested in numerous interior an exterior walls.

In 2013, Diana and musician Gregory Rogove, opened an organic breakfast cafe called ANOTHER KIND OF SUNRISE on Abbot Kinney, Venice, CA, where she did a mural in collaboration with Incubus singer, Brandon Boyd.

She spoke about her BE WHAT YOU DREAM project at TEDx Oaxaca and at the Social Innovation Festival, CATAPULTA in 2014. The experience at CATAPULTA was so rich, that she decided to partner up to help with it´s development. The next year, she became a producer incorporating an opening ceremony, art, music, inspirational talks, and a healing meditative space for the festival.

Diana has shown her art in festivals like Art Basel (Miami), SXSW (Austin), Burning Man (Black Rock City), Ondalinda (Careyes), Catapulta (Oaxaca), and A Day in the Desert (Joshua Tree). She has also collaborated some with a variety of brands including: Burton, Vans, Caudalie, Scribe, Tequila 1800, In Heroes We Trust, and others.

As an actress, she was first discovered when she was cast in the IFC feature DRAMAMEX written and directed by Gerardo Naranjo (Miss Bala) and executive produced by Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna - the film premiered at Cannes, Toronto and AFI festivals in 2007. She then went on to co-star in the critically acclaimed Universal Focus feature SIN NOMBRE, written and directed by the winning director at Sundance in 2009, Cary Fukunaga (True Detective). She´s been part of other films such as: AMAR, AQUI ENTRE NOS, CASI DIVAS, LABIOS ROJOS, THE AIR I BREATHE, WHAT MAISIE KNEW, GUADALUPE THE VIRGIN, BORRAR DE LA MEMORIA, as well as in two seasons of FOX´s TV show KADABRA.
