Buckminster Fuller was an American architect, systems theorist, author, designer, inventor and futurist. He has been praised as one of the greatest minds of our times, as he developed innovative solutions by using technology to improve human lives while “doing more with less”.
Bucky, is responsible of creating the geodesic dome, he discovered that if a spherical structure was created from triangles, it would have unparalleled strength. [By the way he was expelled from Harvard]
In 1965 before his death he produced three prototypes for a low-cost portable housing project. They were in the form of geodesic bubbles which he called the “Fly’s Eye Dome”.
The one displayed at Miami’s Design District is a replica of one of the prototypes which is part of Craig Robbins’ collection.
