Joe & The Juice is expected to open at 2315 NW Second Avenue. The Danish coffee and juice chain has more than 170 locations in 14 countries and seems to have a talent for finding good real estate. Its next Miami address will be in Wynwood.
Juice has already found a very receptive audience here. Miami born JugoFresh became one of the most popular stops inside Wynwood Walls, Jucy Lu opened its first permanent location in the neighborhood, and Dr Smood created its health conscious café concept in Miami around organic food, cold pressed juices and remarkably polished interiors. Wynwood appears to be drinking its vegetables.
The commercial story of NW Second Avenue, however, is larger than juice. Joey’s, Wood Tavern and Panther Coffee became early anchors along the street. Each gave people a reason to return after seeing the murals, and together they helped turn a collection of warehouses and scattered storefronts into a place where a restaurant or café could build a real following.
Joe & The Juice is arriving after those businesses have already established the rhythm of the street. This is what makes its choice of address interesting. A company from Denmark is paying attention to the customer and the neighborhood that Miami businesses created.
The property is owned by 2301 Wynwood LLC and was included in a three property portfolio purchased for $35.4 million in 2016. The exact terms of the Joe & The Juice lease have not been disclosed, but the address alone says plenty about the value now being placed on NW Second Avenue.
Wynwood’s first anchors made the street interesting. Now businesses from outside the country are beginning to follow them here.
The question now is, How will Wynwood welcome another coffee and juice hangout spot?
